Revitalizing Our Regional Economy

Michiganders understand the value of hard work and embody a can-do spirit unlike those from anywhere else. To build a vibrant, dynamic shared future in which everyone can prosper, we need to invest in our communities and people who for far too long have been left behind by the rich and powerful. Our friends, families, and neighbors are hardworking people who aren’t afraid to roll up their sleeves and solve problems. Emily will advance solutions that lift up Southeastern Michigan and keep our local economy moving forward.

  • To foster opportunity, encourage innovation, create good-paying jobs, and keep our young people in our communities, it is crucial that we lay a strong foundation for sustainable growth. Infrastructure is at the center of that need — this moment presents great opportunity for us to increase use and affordability of renewable energy, improve access and reliability of our transportation systems, advance public health, and protect our unique ecosystems and natural resources. When we remove costly barriers to opportunity we can ensure all of our communities can stay connected, remain resilient, and keep pace with our rapidly changing world. In Congress, Emily will with advocate for smart, future-focused investments in both our infrastructure and our workforce, so that everyone in our region has the chance to thrive.

  • Michigan businesses and families rely on trade, but it is clear that the deck is stacked against us thanks to years of irresponsible trade policy and an unlevel playing field. Emily will be a fierce defender of workers, fight to end tax breaks that encourage outsourcing, and speak out against misguided trade deals that ship jobs overseas, put Michigan at a disadvantage, and make it harder for us to compete. Emily will fight for policies that keep us globally competitive and help families put food on the table.

  • Selfridge Air National Guard Base is an important facility and asset for our region, state and nation with great potential as we look ahead to future operations. The base plays a significant role in both our national security and economy, generating an estimated $850 million economic impact statewide. In Congress, Emily will advocate for investments in future missions at Selfridge and be a relentless voice for Michigan’s military installations.

  • Raising a family in a village built on family-owned, small, storefront businesses, Emily understands the barriers facing entrepreneurs including access to capital, predatory lending, bureaucratic red tape, and recruiting and retaining staff. The pandemic has only worsened these challenges as many local businesses have struggled to stay afloat or been forced to close permanently, underscoring the need for a strong voice in Congress who sees the bigger picture. Emily understands that small businesses are the backbone of our communities, and she will fight tooth and nail to make sure Main Street gets the resources needed to not just survive, but thrive.
